The release capture checks these official pages and the NASA-provided captions before it records a frame. The video build then verifies the capture checksums, codecs, dimensions, duration, poster, and caption timing before it can pass the release check.

Annotated turns the moments worth discussing into source-linked conversations. The homepage leads with the Chrome sidebar, then a live latest feed across text, audio, and video.
Every landing page preserves the exact excerpt, clear source credit, and a path back to the original. Commentary, votes, bookmarks, sharing, threaded discussion, and a visible button that lets rights holders dispute the use stay together.
For YouTube, users choose a bounded range of no more than ninety seconds. Ordinary videos stay in the official privacy-enhanced player, while audited first-party media can follow the authorized-copy path.
The NASA demo, podcast, and authorized direct media use signed acquisition grants, a protected FFmpeg worker, private object storage, and verified video capped at two hundred forty pixels high.
Public profiles provide a stream of annotations and series, while accountable anonymous publishing can hide authorship publicly without removing ownership or abuse controls behind the scenes.
Longer critiques become ordered series. A creator can split an article into one-hundred-word excerpts, connect each annotation, and reorder the sequence without replacing the original source.
Discovery includes latest, rising, and following feeds, text, audio, and video filters, search, bookmarks, comments, follows, votes, and a top-ten leaderboard of canonical sources.
Privacy controls cover profile visibility, default annotation visibility, activity, follow graph, and contact preferences. Authentication is Clerk-based and limited to Google and X, with no password flow or fake account fallback.
The Manifest Version Three Chrome side panel is the primary capture surface. It reads the active tab only when asked, supports pasted URLs, exact text or timed ranges, text or recorded commentary, fair-use attestation, review, publishing, and sharing. This is Annotated: clip the part, add your point, and keep the source one click away.
